Te Waipounamu Regional Wānaka

Nau mai, haere mai. We warmly invite you to join us for the MAC Te Waipounamu Regional Wānaka 2026, a day grounded in whanaukataka, mātauraka Māori, and culturally sustaining leadership practice.

We have the privilege of gathering as a MAC whānau at Araiteuru Marae in Ōtepoti, under the mana of the ahi kā from Te Runaka o Ōtākou, Kāti Huiarapa ki Puketeraki and Te Runaka o Moeraki who gave assent to the development and use of this pan-tribal marae in the city. Together we will strengthen our connections, share whakaaro, and deepen our commitment to creating success for all tamariki, particularly tamariki Māori.

The day will begin with a pōwhiri and whakatau kōrero before hearing from our Tumu Whakarae, Leanne Otene, as she shares the vision and direction of Te Arahou o Aotearoa Trust and our MAC kaupapa. Together we will unpack the many taoka gifted to us by our iwi, rūnaka, marae and rakatira, reflecting on how these continue to strengthen our leadership and practice.

Throughout the day participants will engage in interactive workshops, hear from a panel of colleagues sharing practical experiences of intentionally growing success for tamariki through a Te Ao Māori lens, and receive an update from Anaru on MAC resources and how they can be utilised within kura.

There will be opportunities throughout the day for shared kai, whanaukataka, professional learning, and collective reflection as we continue to learn from one another and strengthen our collective impact across Te Waipounamu.

Mauri ora e te whānau.
